Purple Hyacinth Bean is a fast-growing, climbing vine native to sub-Saharan Africa and India.
Plant reaches 10 to 15 feet in height and produces vibrant purple pods, lilac-colored flowers, and glossy, deep green foliage with a purple tinge.
While this variety makes for an excellent privacy screen or pollinator attractor for your garden (bees and butterflies go wild for the flowers!), the young pods, which are protein-rich and an excellent source of fiber and essential nutrients, are a valuable addition to the diet of many cultures throughout the tropics.
